The LAM Treatment Alliance is committed to supporting researchers in their need to access LAM tissue without undue delay or frustration. The LAM Treatment Alliance has partnered with the NDRI (see below) in this regard and welcomes your comments and critical feedback. Please email Tissue@LAMTreatmentAlliance.org with comments or questions.

Researcher Enrollment to Obtain Tissue

NDRI, a non-profit organization funded by the National Institutes of Health, has over 25 years of experience in procuring, storing and distributing human cells, tissues and organs to scientists. NDRI will work with you in a time-sensitive and user-friendly manner to develop a customized protocol to collect tissue that meets your requirements. NDRI offers the following;

  • Nationwide access to normal and disease human tissue from NDRI’s established network of tissue retrieval sites
  • Access to NDRI’s Online LAM Biospecimen Catalog
  • Access to LAM Tissue Repository ( previously managed at NHLBI)
  • Preparation of cell lines and DNA
  • Computerized matching of researcher requests with available tissue.

A researcher application, which allows you to create customized protocols for your tissue requirements, must be completed in order to receive biomaterial (including banked and future procured tissue). You will need to have the following:

  • Protocol details regarding your tissue needs (i.e. donor profile and time constraints)
  • Contact information for all co-investigators and individuals authorized to accept tissue in your laboratory
  • Electronic copy of research synopsis and resume of the Principal Investigator
  • Signed IRB letter of approval or equivalent

To receive an application, please contact a Rare Disease Coordinator at raredisease@ndriresource.org or complete an online application form at www.ndriresource.org or for more information, contact Tissue@LAMTreatmentAlliance.org.
